Custom Fish Tank
While custom fish tanks are always more expensive than their off the shelf counterparts, there are some distinct advantages to going the custom route.
The first is that you can get exactly the size you want. If you want an 1,100 gallon hexagon system, you can get it. It can also be built into your wall, floor, bar, wherever you want it and since it’s custom made, it’ll fit precisely.
Another advantage is that equipment can be built into to your setup to give your aquarium a more professional and elegant appearance (no ones wants to see unsightly heaters and filtration systems in a high end aquarium).
Glass Or Acrylic
When entering the world of custom aquariums, you’ll usually have a choice between glass or acrylic.
Acrylic has several advantages over glass. It’s lighter and it’s also clearer than standard fish tank glass. It’s also more break resistant and less likely to leak.
However, many fish enthusiasts still prefer glass for one simple reason -- it’s far more scratch resistant. You can also get sapphire glass which is extremely clear (better than standard glass which has a slight green tint and better than acrylic).
The choice is yours, although in some cases if you require a really complex design, you’ll have to go with acrylic.
